This report provides an overview of some legislation and finance mechanism being used in different parts of the world to support OECM implementation. This is complemented by a section of case studies of OECMs which showcase the diversity of management and governance structures that can underpin an OECM. The report as a whole therefore presents a snapshot of global OECMs with the view to providing examples that can support countries/territories with their own OECM journey Specifically the report was written in the context of the SPACES Kazakhstan project and the implementation of the OECM concept in this national context and therefore the examples provided are tailored towards the Kazakh context, but remain relevant in other contexts as well.
