UNEP-WCMC (2025). NBSAPs and Private Finance Outlook: Democratic Republic of the Congo. Cambridge, United Kingdom.13p DOI:https://doi.org/10.34892/FGK7-Z211
In December 2022, Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) and associated decisions. The implementation of the CBD, and therefore of the KMGBF, occurs at the national level, with national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) being the main instruments for this purpose. In this context, the Conference of the Parties to the CBD requested that Parties revise and update their NBSAPs to align with the KMGBF, and since adoption, Parties have therefore been working to take on board these international commitments in the context of their national needs and circumstances.
This outlook considers the process for updating and revising of the DR Congo's NBSAP, and it's subsequent implementation, in the context of opportunities for private finance. The information was gathered through desk-based research and interviews with relevant stakeholders. This factsheet is targeted at policymakers and financial institutions interested in the contributions that private finance can make to NBSAP implementation. Similar outlooks are available for Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
