UNEP-WCMC (2024) Offshore energy and migratory species. Cambridge, UK.

Offshore wind developments are rapidly growing in number around the world. While they are a vital part of our efforts to tackle climate change, offshore wind infrastructure has the potential to disrupt marine species, including migratory species that play central roles in ocean health and connectivity. Organisations involved in planning and developing offshore wind need more information to address these potential impacts. This technical brief provides an overview of the current state of knowledge on the impacts of offshore wind on marine migratory species and suggests future directions to help offshore wind developers better manage these impacts.
