UNEP-WCMC reviews species to assess their conservation status, management methods and levels of trade, producing regular outputs of net trade in wild-collected fauna and flora listed on CITES Appendix II as part of the CITES Review of Significant Trade process. This is a key process to ensure the biological sustainability of legal wildlife trade.

UNEP-WCMC also produces Reviews of Significant Trade for the species selected for review following CoPs for Animals and Plants Committee meetings.
