UNEP-WCMC. 2016. Indicators and Information Systems for biodiversity and development - guidance from the Pan European region. UNEP-WCMC, Cambridge, UK.

This report aims to help government staff responsible for biodiversity and sustainable development to have effective indicators and information systems for their work. It is available in English and Russian.

Its first section illustrates how indicators developed for revised National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) can be relevant for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as for mainstreaming NBSAPs into development strategies. It then provides further explanation of the information system framework that is used in the Biodiversity Information System Assessment Tool and guidance document, outlined above. An annex gives links to the many guidance materials produced by UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre on biodiversity indicators, ecosystem services, assessments, use of spatial data and scenarios in support of NBSAPs.
