​This briefing document presents an overview of a number of review and accountability mechanisms developed under a range of international agreements. By sharing lessons relating to their design and implementation, it seeks to help inform discussions on review and accountability mechanisms for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The following treaties are included: UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, UN human rights treaty system, the Aarhus Convention, the Ramsar Convention, and the World Heritage Convention.
